(SIRC) Recycles Over 16 Million Tons of Construction and Demolition Materials.
Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), fully owned by the Investment Fund, has revealed that it recycled 16 million tons of construction and demolition materials during the past year of 2022. This was accomplished through its investment arm, AKAM Company for Materials Recycling, specializing in waste management solutions for construction and demolition materials.
Abdulrahman Al-Manna, CEO of AKAM, explained that the company processed over two million tons of construction and demolition materials and reintroduced them to the local market. He emphasized that AKAM has achieved record-breaking figures.
He said, “AKAM” has launched the Green Cement Block Industry Initiative, which involves recycling ready-mix concrete waste and utilizing it in cement block factories to achieve the concept of a circular economy and reduce indiscriminate disposal of concrete. He pointed out that a capital budget of 160 million riyals has been allocated to expand operational processes, improve efficiency, and lead the sector.
Meanwhile, SIRC emphasized that it is committed, along with its subsidiaries, to achieving its goals through a solid and clear strategy for developing the waste management sector in general, and demolition and construction materials in particular, in cooperation with relevant ministries, sectors, and the National Waste Management Center, in order to achieve the goal of landfill diversion and meet the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.
